In a little more than a month (see countdown widget below), the World Cup (a.k.a the greatest sporting event in the world) will commence. Having personally attended a match (Ireland vs. Italy at Giants Stadium on June 18, 1994), I can attest that there is nothing that comes close to experiencing the World Cup live. The tournament, which every four years brings together national football, er, soccer teams from countries around the globe, will be held in South Africa this year.
